A Huge Sucess & Lessons Learned

The talkaboutpopmusic radio channel “experiment” has taken me completely by surprise. I say “experiment” as I simply wanted to test the water, so to speak, to see how it would go down. Let’s just say it went “downtown – all the way to Chinatown” and I am so, so pleased!

Due to the success of the live “request show” I think that I initially over stretched my resources i.e. me, by trying to do many other things with the radio show at the same time. What with two blogs, a full-time job and a semi-social life it’s too much too soon. I mean, I know I have a Superman tattoo but I sadly don’t have his superpowers…yet!

This way of thinking used to always be a “problem” of mine. I’d want to do everything at once and take on too much. Over time and with age, I’ve come to learn that you don’t have to do everything all at once – focus on one thing at a time and the end results can still be the same. So, that’s what I’m going to do with the radio shows!

It’s quite obvious that the live, let’s call it “request show” for now, is the main thing to concentrate on so, with your continued support, I am going to focus on that and build it to be something “poptastic”.  It may not always be on the same day or even the same time – which is good because that will allow it to reach more people across different communities/time zones etc. However, there will always be plenty notice so it’s clear exactly when to tune in. Also, there will always be a podcast available to those who couldn’t listen live.

The radio station will still broadcast amazing tunes at all other times so whenever you want to feel “poptastic” and have a little dance – tune in and bop your butt off!

There’s so much I want to do with this amazing “air time” opportunity and I hope you will stick with it!

Thanks to everyone who has taken part and helped to get this well and truly off the ground!

  1. Steve, you’ve done a great job! The Request Show is going to be an even bigger hit before long, especially as more and more bloggers share what you are doing. Yes, lessons have been leaned, but that can only be a good thing. I think four hours for a request show is a little long. I’d cut it back to maybe three. That gives you more time. Little and often are good in my books.
