I Am Being Upgraded…

I’ve decided that it’s time for a change and that I don’t want to grow old gracefully…

I used to not concern myself about the changes that come with age and say that it didn’t bother me but over the last few week, call it a mid-life crisis, call it not giving a s*** what other people think – I’ve decided I am giving myself an “upgrade”.

Don’t worrying i’m not becoming a Cyberman…or am I?

I think it stems from the fact that last year I decided to dress a little bit smarter for work on the days that I am teaching. Don’t get me wrong – I looked smartish before but thought I would make more of an effort – smart suit, smart shirts and shoes and funky glasses. I really did notice that this gave me much more confidence – look good, feel good and all that and it was kind of like adopting a new persona.

So, over the course of the next few weeks I have things that I am going to be doing to refresh this persona. Things that are not included in the upgrade include stopping smoking, drinking less, exercising more or eating more healthy – no one cares about all that nonsense and I will get around to that eventually anyway. This change will be more of an image thing.

I won’t reveal too much details yet but update about them when they happen however here’s some head-shots from now…apologies if this scares you and I think it’s all a little Prisoner: Cell Block H

Here’s an idea of what I currently look like at work…

Stay tuned for the next few updates.

What about you? Have you ever given yourself a makeover?

  1. I think my midlife crisis began at 37 and now I am 40:-). My changes meant working out consistently and getting a dermatologist;). I look better at 40 than I did at 37, at least I think so! I’ve been saying look good, feel good since high school. I smiled when you said the same thing! I just decided that I want to be able to stay active well into old age and so I better start taking better care of myself now or it would only get harder later.

  2. Aw, how adorable you look! (yeah, I know, not available, but still…I am sure you both are adorable together!)

Anyway, I did an informal poll on my blog last week and it seems that everyone thinks I need to un-do the makeover I gave myself last year and go back to red hair from black. So I am not sure if that is a makeover-do-over, or a makeover-over-again?

  3. LOL, love the video! I did an upgrade at age 40 – it too most likely was from a mid-life crisis. I did the same as you, stopped smoking and drinking and started exercising. The upgrade made a significant change inside and outside.
    Here’s to your upgrade! 🙂
