Netflix Jukebox: Death In Paradise…

This week the Netflix Jukebox threw a British murder mystery drama at me called Death In Paradise

The show begins with  a British police officer having to go to a Caribbean island to solve the mystery of the murder of his colleague who was working on the island.

It’s kind of like a version of Murder She Wrote and Heartbeat only it’s set in the Caribbean.  It does have a few famous faces from the UK in it but it doesn’t have the brilliant soundtrack like Heartbeat or the brilliance of Jessica Fletcher.

I’ve never been a big fan of mystery dramas and I’d be quite happy just seeing who was murdered and then skipping to the end to see who done it. I don’t really want to watch someone solving all the clues, I just want the closure. Therefore I was bored watching this for 50 out of the 52 minutes it lasted.

Don’t get me wrong, if you like this type of show then I can see the light-heartedness appeal and the quirky charm but it’s just not for me.

Top tip for anyone – don’t move to this island because it seems there will be a murder each episode but I can’t say that for sure as I won’t be continuing to watch this.

Have you watched it? What do you think?

  1. I sort of enjoyed the trailer until it repeated the same “message” continually: British man can’t stand island life, meets beautiful woman who can’t stand British man. My prediction is that they’ll fall in love after about 50 murders.
