Forget Royal David – What About St. Stephen..?

The Evening Express has reported that there is a call out to all the Davids, Daves and Davies to congregate in the Castlegate to create a giant “David Choir” and perform the Christmas Carol “Once In Royal David’s City…

It is an attempt to break the record of having 121 people turn up last year.

It’s a great idea but since they did Davids last year shouldn’t they try something different?

Say, for example, they put a call out to all the Steves, Stevens and Stephens instead and then they could sing the Christmas Carol, Good King Wenceslas, which contains the line…

“on the feast of Stephen”

I’d be up for that! In fact if they decide to do this – as well as or instead of – the Davids then I’d happily offer to sing the opening line solo in front of the very large crowd. Bear in mind I’ve never sang in public because, well, I can’t sing!

How’s that for Christmas spirit? The offer is there…
